At the invitation of Dr. Alan Hawkins, I re-wrote the chapter on the sanctity of life for the second edition of the Family Proclamation textbook used in foundation courses for the School of Family Life. Using a philological approach, I explore questions such as What is Life? Why is Life Sacred? Why is Life Important in God’s Plan? and What is Abortion? I then provide suggestions for appropriate ways to uphold the sanctity of life. I also provide a table of General Authority responses to common beliefs about abortion.
