Forming a WH Question in American Sign Language



Teacher: McMurtrey
Time: 10 minutes
Proficency Level: Beginnning Adult

Teaching Objectives:


Materials Needed:


Learning/Teaching Activities:

Warm-up/Introduction:

Draw a question mark on the board and demonstrate the sign for Question Demonstrate:

Move with classifier positions.

Show each sign twice as they see the card then have a student sign the same sign.

Presentation of New Material:
Importance of Facial Expressions:

The facial expression must match with the emotion being expressed. The question requires the same type of facial cue.

Demonstrate:

Wh Question Formation

Use WH Signs with facial expressions:

Demonstrate: Asking for information


Evaluation

Using the flashcards, ask students to give the sign and appropriate facial expression. Ask various students to respond.
