A Contrastive Survey of Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Subjunction Between English and Hindu

This thesis is an evaluation of the concept of homogeneous and heterogeneous subjunction as set forth in the interpretive grammar by Eldon G. Lytle. This grammar proposes a set of universal radical relationships supposedly valid in all languages. This thesis tests the validity of these relationships by comparing the formal and semantic characteristics of English-Hindi equivalent sentences. Evaluation is made on formal grounds as well as in consultation with bilingual speakers of Hindi.
