- Read synthesize and be prepared to discuss in class the reading assignments.
- Develop two lesson plans; one for teaching an ESL/EFL reading class and another for teaching an ESL/EFL writing class.
- Write two reviews of ESL/EFL reading and/or writing texts and submit the reviews for publication.
- Work closely with an ESL reading and/or writing class during the semester and keep an observation/mentoring/teaching journal.
- Complete the midterm exam and the final exam based on course readings and exercises.
- Write a research paper on a topic of your choosing related to TESL reading or writing.
GRADING BASED ON:
- Participation and attendance (50 points total)
- Lesson plans (50 points each; 100 points total)
- Text reviews (50 points each; 100 points total)
- Class Observation/Mentoring/Teaching Journal (100 points total)

NOTES:
- Attendance is taken each class period. Attendance and participation are an essential part of the course. Completion of the On-Line Student Course Evaluation form will be included in the participation points of the grade.
- NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Work must be submitted at the beginning of class on the day it is due.
- Grading of the assignments is done on the following scales:
