After taking Linguistics 572, you will...
  • Gain an understanding and practical comprehension of current views of what good reading and writing are in general.

  • Understand how reading and writing in a second language are different from reading and writing one's native language.

  • Become aware of tools and methods for diagnosing students' reading and writing skills and evaluating their progress in reading and writing.

  • Learn how to apply effective methods for developing second-language reading and writing skills in students of different ages and skill levels.

  • Gain knowledge of textbooks and materials for teaching ESL reading and writing.
